Buying safely and buyer protection
DRAFT, pending legal review
You buy from the seller, not from Liquidator.news.
How to pay safely
- Pay only through the seller’s PayPal Goods & Services or the seller’s own card checkout shown on the sale page. Eligible PayPal Goods & Services purchases are covered by PayPal’s own Purchase Protection program under PayPal’s terms; card purchases can be disputed with your card issuer (a chargeback).
- Never pay by Zelle, wire transfer, crypto, gift cards, PayPal “friends and family”, Cash App, Venmo, money order or cash by mail. These carry no buyer protection, and a seller who asks for them breaks the Market rules: report the lot.
- Liquidator.news never asks you to pay it for a lot.
If something goes wrong
- Open “Problem with this sale” on the sale page (not paid, not as described, not shipped, pickup no-show). The other side has 3 business days (Monday to Friday, not counting federal holidays, Eastern time) to reply on the site; no reply means a strike against them.
- Buyer and seller can agree to void the sale; no fee is charged.
- For a refund of money you paid, use PayPal’s Resolution Center or your card issuer. Liquidator.news records what happened on the sale page, which you can use as evidence, but does not decide refunds.
What the site checks
Sellers confirm their email, verify with PayPal, choose a paid plan and attest each lot; listings pass an automatic word screen for prohibited items and off-platform payment requests (no automatic screen catches everything: report anything that gets through); reports are reviewed during regular maintenance; and shill bidding is checked nightly. The seller badge states only what was checked. Anyone can report a lot, with or without an account, and reach us through the contact page.
